Empty crops at night

I fermented my feed so I have zero waste, not sure if you have a problem with waste or not. Just sharing my experience.
I'd have to say my girls are closer to a tennis ball size at night..you can see just by looking at them a huge "bump" on their crop side.

I will have to see if I can find a way to get the hens in the coop a bit earlier at night, so they eat a bit before roosting.

I don't have a big problem with waste. I try to keep the feeder adjusted so there is plenty of feed available for them, but not so much that it easily spills out over the edges.

And how big is a full crop? Would golf ball size be considered full, or should it be a bit bigger?
Depends on size of bird...and some have larger crops.
It's a matter of practice I think, to gauge if a bird is filling it's crop...and comparing night and morning is key IMO.
