Emu baby chronicles :) NEW PIC pg 31!!

I would love to try hatching one, but my parents said no,lol. Maybe if I get my big Homemade bator working next year I can find an egg or two! The color is amazing. I hope it hatches for ya!

What an EGG! Great luck to you, and please know that we will all want updates. What a beautiful egg color, what about the different incubator you mentioned? Whats with that? Possibly something the local hospital can supply? This is so great - glad you are going for it and have a home (THIS is the most important thing) already planned out should the chick decide to hatch - with all of us in your pocket or on your shoulder cheering you on!

Great luck to you,
Mac

Well we will be keeping our fingers crossed...as far as the different incubation....they are incubated at 97.5 with approx. 30 percent humidity. So thats why the different incubation mostly. We don't have the land for it either (as an adult) that's the reason we made sure to have a home lined up just in case. I think it will be quite an experience if it does hatch! I'll update but I don't know how much updating I'll actually be able to do LOL. Btu anywhere between 48 and 55 days I'll let ya'll know! Southern we paid 30 dollars for the egg (shipping included). Oh yeah and the color is GORGEOUS!

Are you going to help the chick out of the egg after it pips so that the whole egg isn't destroyed or just let nature happen? That is a wild color for an egg. Would love to make an omlet outa that

What an egg! I never knew you could get an emu egg thru the mail, I guess you can order anything nowadays. How big does an emu get?

If it doesn't hatch, will you keep the egg? I hope it hatches!! Good luck with it.

Our neighbor has 5 emus. They are wonderful birds. She uses the eggs for oils and stuff and I get the shells to use in my egg art. Here are a couple that I've done with them. They're a good shell to work with because they're so strong and they are good for carving. The have 3 different layers of color and carve beautifully.

and the emu oil industry is very large. Here's just a sample
