Emu Hatch-a-long 2012

Raptor-Thank you for the chart! I love having a visual, works so much better for me

I just printed it to put right next to the incubator. It will really help me keep track. That was very kind of you.

yinepu- sorry about your toothache, they are the WORST! Ibuprofin around the clock is the only thing that helps when I get a bad one. Hope you can rest and feel better

Thanks
And thank you again Raptor!

I take Naproxin Sodium (industrial strength..er.. i mean prescription strength.. lol)... it's the only thing that will put a dent in a toothache for me. But it also makes my brain go numb... (yeah.. like it needed any help in that department)...
Sad thing is I have to take several of them before it does any good at all...

I could swear I felt egg A wiggle when I went to turn them a few minutes ago.. only on day 28.... but it certainly felt like something kicked a bit when I went to turn it...

it's too early.. maybe my fingers just have a case of wishful thinking..

Splay legs is not a reason to put them down!

Do a search on here for 'splay legs' and you'll come up with solutions such as bandaging the legs into position.

Hi Toast n Jelly!
I am not positive if it is a splay leg (by definition) it seems different after more research on the forums. I will do do everything and anything to help them however all the posts im reading seem to point to the worst..I dont want to see them suffer either..

This is the one that is developing an inward leg very quickly

Front view of him

This is a pic of the older emu that is now down and wont stand. His leg looked identical to the above two pics of the other emu

Do these suggest Splay leg?
Thank you ahead for any help on this

that's a niacin deficiency.. not splay legs.. pretty common in ducks and turkeys that are fed food that is deficient

so get some niacin and crush it up into their water and on their food..
then hope for the best

hopefully you can catch it early enough.. but I'm not too optimistic if the chick has already gone down

my biggest pale egg is the same way.. not losing nearly enough weight... so i am beginning to think that instead of missing the outer layer that it has 2 extra layers.. it was a little weepy the day I put it in the bator.. but only slightly.. so I think it's probably bad anyway

Can you move it closer to the fan?.. hopefully if you can it will even out a bit
