Check this out: this is Felicity Emu and her Growing Gang (out my bedroom window) and a random wild emu at the lilly pilly tree (out the carport). The figs have finished. The birds are roaming everywhere.

Here is a beautiful portrait of our adult female. I can't wait for the other two to get big enough to keep her company!

Her name is Thing One. The two babies we have named Zig and Zag.

How great to see these beautiful birds everyday, and the weather looks great. Here in northern NH we just had another stupid snow storm, my bird was so disgusted to see the snow when I opened the barn doors this morning she turned right around and went back to bed on her favorite blanket.

I’ve been watching them every day for five years, and it’s just as much fun today as Day One!
Felicity and her consort are passing outside the window as I type. They have clay on their feet from drinking down at the dam, and they are going to confront some foreign birds that must be out of sight to the east – you can tell from their body language that they are off to confront ‘foreign birds.’

the female in the photo is a fine bird, really healthy looking.

I wouldn’t be too sure that she and Zig and Zag will be a Happy Family later. It ain’t the emoo way.
