Emu pictures and stories.... post them here

Love the pics :) I will have to look for some pics but we had an Emu several years ago. He was amazing, loving & so friendly. He was the only Emu & i think he thought he was a dog. Brodie ( the emu ) & the dog were best buds :) Thanks for posting - glad to see others find joy in emu's :)

We picked up our chicks last Sunday! I have named them Zig and Zag :) They are doing well, but the weather here has been so cold we are having to keep them on the enclosed back porch with the heat on. I put them in a GIANT dog crate at night, but during the day I've set up a dog exercise pen over an indoor/outdoor carpet mat and hay so they can move around a little more. Took them outside and put them in the exercise pen for awhile last night while I cleaned everything up. I've been feeding them a little cut up kale and they really love that! Also a bit of blackberry. They are not yet fond of the grapes...

Hope it warms up this week so they can get out a bit more! Also I need to bathe them - but it's been so cold I haven't wanted to take a chance on giving them a chill. Sure wish they'd grow fast so they could keep our lonely emu girl company. She does have the alpacas to keep her company, and our new black alpaca boy, Perazzi, thinks she is the most interesting thing he's ever seen!

be careful bathing them, most of the literature discourages getting a (young) chick wet...

Okay ... I was just going to wipe them down with a washcloth. They seem to get themselves pretty poopy!

Got the results back from Zoogen, turns out Ellie is actually a boy. Since he hatched on March 15th we're gonna call him Julius.
