Encouragement for New Hand Quilters! My VERY First Quilted Item (humiliating myself here, LOL)

Thimbleberries is a series by RJR fabrics, which I love, too. I had quite a bit of their fabrics that kathyinmo sent me in a quilt kit. Still have some of them left over from those projects.

This was Pansy Park, a Thimbleberries quilt I pieced. It was humongous:

Piecing it took awhile, but not that long. The instructions were very clear. I didn't quilt it, though. MissPrissy bought the top so she could have it quilted by a neighbor with a commercial machine to give to her mother for a Christmas gift.

It is a very pretty top, isn't it? I mentioned it to the quilt shop owner in town. Her eyes got big when I said "Pansy Park" and she said "that thing is huge!" I didn't realize I had completed such a monumental task. Now, quilting it by hand, that would be something BIG!

Thank you, Kathryn. It feels like I didn't really do much, just followed someone else's directions, used the fabrics provided, so it wasn't my own creativity, just my machine doing it by the numbers. I like making up my own, especially the medallion quilts that I design as I go, border by border, choosing fabric for each section as I get to it.

Started the quilting on the new wallhanging so I think I'll have it done in no time.

That's definitely it, thanks! I think Patsy Thompson has some videos online that I was watching recently. I may go back to the quilt shop and see if they have the beige version like on that site on their sale shelf-I got mine for $5.50/yd on sale, which is a good price for this nice fabric.
