END OF FEB. HATCH-ALONG, ANYONE?

I just set some Serama eggs. I don't yet know if they're fertile since they just started laying.

I also threw in some d'Uccle eggs.

Seems the Seramas and d'Uccles want to start laying all of a sudden.

yeah it counts :) what breeds do you have incubating?

I have pure light brahmas, brahma cochin mixes and brahma delaware mixes in the incubator. There are 38 eggs total in the incubator and so far everything has been perfect for temp and humidity. My only concern is whether or not the eggs got to cold outside before I put them in since we have some pretty cold temps up here in New England right now. We will see on Saturday how they do.

I have a broody Sebright that has been setting, her eggs are due to hatch around the 17th (my birthday

) IDK if it will get too cold here in Ohio. It has been nice but now it will be in the teens so IDK. At work we set 12 bantam eggs (sebright, americana, and Millie Flure D'Uccles) and 3 duck eggs. They are due on the 21st. At home I just set 20 Bantam eggs of the same breeds that are due around the 27th. Hopefully I get some that hatch because I have a fair amount of people that want some.

I have never used an incubator before and I just got 2 from a friend who go out of it. They are Little Giants but Heck, Ill see what I get!

I have one egg from a black Americauna Bantam hen and a white Silkie rooster that should hatch on 2/26. If it hatches, it should be gorgeous! My Cochin Bantam broody hen decided to sit on it. I thought, what the heck, she's been so broody (last year and lately), that I might as well let her give it a shot and see what happens. I only have 3 hens right now, so I won't let her sit on more than one egg at this point, or I won't have any to eat.

I candled it carefully last night (day 2). It looks a little porous, so I hope it's not bad. I will candle again on Friday (day 5) and see how things are going. Here's hoping.

I saw someone post on a different thread that they refrigerate their eggs before incubating or setting them. They said they get a 90% or better hatch rate. Has anyone else heard of this?

I'll join! I have 49 BLRW and Lavender Orpington eggs that I set 2/5 for a 2/26 hatch date. Trying to hatch out as many chicks as I can for my upcoming poultry sale/swap event! Hope everyone has a great hatch. I will candle on day 10 to check development and weed out some of the non-starters. I'll be filling my other incubator next week with more as well!
