Engaging in WWIII with Mites and Lice

@casportpony So I do think the numbers have dwindled, and the chickens looked better (vent area) upon second dose. However, I messed up and accidentally used the concentration meant for the coops for the second spray--I feel horrible. I can't remember the exact dilution because I saw so many different ones out there when mixing, but it was higher than what I used on them the first time. I just did a little spray under the wings, above and below the vent, and back of neck--they were not drenched. How toxic is this stuff and should I be worried? 😭

You are fine, it is very harmless to animals.

I use the more concentrated amount on them all of the time! Don't worry!
Thanks! I've been obsessively checking on them every 5 minutes so now I will go back to having a life.

It was a bit traumatizing. I'd never held them upside down before (I had my husband do that part), and while it was way easier to quickly get them in all the right spots, it freaked me out a bit. One of my hens who particularly isn't into being held laid down still for a good 30 seconds after putting her down, like she was dazed. I then read that it can be dangerous to do that (seems like a mixed reaction topic--many have done it for years with no issues and then there are the horror story anecdotes). Thankfully she was up within the next few minutes, scratching around, eating and drinking pretty soon afterwards. I was worried I killed her! This poor darling was diagnosed with a heart murmur a little over a year ago, so I will need to remember that this might not be the way to handle her.

I think I may have to look into permethrin alternatives next bug battle--I'm not the best war hero this go round!
