At what concentration level?Permethrin 10
Gosh I don't remember. I saw so many conflicting amounts online. Tried the weaker end first then a higher dosage within the parameters of what I was seeing. Difficult to do the math for the small amount needed for my 6 hens. Any suggestions? At what concentration level?
For the coop and boxes, use the highest dose. What size spray bottle are you using?Gosh I don't remember. I saw so many conflicting amounts online. I need to know what size sprayer you're using.
36 oz. Today we do the second spray down of the coop and the chickens (1 wk from the initial spritzing). So vent, under wings, and neck?I need to know what size sprayer you're using.
I've never heard of elemental sulfur but I'm willing to try it. It's safe for the hens? Is it a powder?I had fowl mites over the winter and Permethrin did absolutely nothing - stripped coop and treated coop and girls every 7 days for 3 cycles. Read a lot about DE and elemental sulfur, and ultimately opted for the sulfur...mites were gone after one treatment and never returned. Mixed sulfur into the dust bath occasionally (we have an indoor one for the winter), and treated nest boxes, roosts, and corners of coop with bedding changes. I always wore a mask and cleared the girls out of the coop before treating. Also, stuff smells horrible, but it goes away after a few minutes. I agree that you should also be making sure you don't have rodent / bird issues!
Good luck. Bugs like this are the worst!
