English Shepherd as Poultry Guardian

We just caught a large male Opossum inside barn. I could see its eyes in spotlight that reflected orange when it looked directly at me and blue green when looking off to side. Lucy trotted over to barn apparently aware of what we were after before even smelling it. The Opossum appeared to get zapped by fence behind barn and then it played dead at Lucy's feet. I messed with it enough to determine gender then tossed it over fence. The Opossum stuff has happened so many times that taking photographs just is not worth it. it could be eating eggs the hens are hiding behind a post under storage area. He is decidedly underweight.

Last night my three dogs got into a major battle with something to east of our house. Very strange rapid barking as two inside boiled out of house to assist Hun that was already in the fray. Based on their behavior when they came back they had a good fight and won. Neighbors dog (Bella) they team up with came to back door today with interesting changes to her tail. Proximal 1/3 was shaved by a vet with lots of stitches and bite signs. I think she tried to take coyotes on by herself and fight came up us where my dogs piled on to drive the coyotes off. Bella is now spending time here on front porch. Normally she would be head strong and go right after the coyotes. My dogs work as a tighter team.

Late last night at same time too much "fun" was being had on this site, my dogs actually helped law enforcement in pursuit of a suspect. Dogs barked at perp allowing police to determine direction perp went. It still took a couple hours to figure out where perp was hiding and it was pretty close. During much of that I thought dogs were fighting with neighbors LGD.
