Lucy (wire-haired German Pointer) is a spayed eight year old that is rationed feed yet has no trouble finding eats by hunting it up or working on a carcass. For me, keeping neutered dogs and cats s in good weight is difficult. She is also fighting arthritis. Can still lick even the toughest raccoon in a fair fight.

That makes sense!! At 8 I think she’s earned a little extra chunk.

And wirehaired makes so much more sense cause for some reason I thought she was a GSP and couldn’t figure out why she had so much fur haha

I usually refer to her as simply a German Pointer. In reality she is half-sibling to male German Pointer (Scoob) we lost a few years ago. She is half short-haired and half wire-haired with over all appearance favoring the latter. She is clearly more cold tolerant that Scoob was. That coat is incredibly thick.

Either way she is beautiful!! But yeah that coat is definitely thick! Almost looks like a spaniel coat haha she’s a gorgeous girl!!

For some reason a lot of chickens in barn have taken to roosting on tops of kennel walls. About 20 have made the switch. It was a hassle passing containers over wall because I had to reach between birds to grab what I my son handed me. Also have to move waterer away from wall to prevent chickens from adding flavoring. Pups were also attacking my best muck boots as I did chores.

Tracks in snow show Honey goes to barn multiple times during course of day and night evidently to check on pups. We also have more rabbits than even last year. I am going to start trapping or shooting some to use them as puppy food, otherwise they are going to start damaging trees if we get a deep snow.

Juvenile chickens perching high to avoid hyperactive fuzz balls running below.

Cockerel that had to repeatedly retreat to top of a crushed pen to avoid cold noses that liked to sniff his butt.
