Hello I am new to ducks all around. I have taken in A Drake and his Hen along with their 2 Ducklings. They are Muscovy Ducks. When I put up emergency housing I took down the humming bird feeder I had on a tree that is now in a day pen for the ducks. I have heard they eat all manor of pests/ insects as well as mice and frogs toads and fish. I am wondering if I put the humming bird feeder back, Will the ducks eat them? It sounds silly, but I used to have a Koi pond where I would raise bull frog tadpoles with the Koi. Until I saw one of my froggies eat a small bird. So now that some of the crazy is relaxing does anyone know if I would be indangering the humming birds to put the feeder back or should it just go someplace else?

Thank you in advance

What cute duckies! I seriously doubt ducks would ever eat another bird. They most likely wouldn't be able to reach the feeder anyway if it's in the air.

The feeder isn't close to the ground ? I have wild bird feeders and hummng bird feeders out here and the chickens ducks nor geese pay them any mind.
Very pretty Muscovies. Not saying if a hummer flew right next to a scovies mouth it would try to snatch it but I haven't ever seen one of mine do it.

I think they can catch birds. Maybe the hummingbird would be too quick. It probably would also depend on how high the feeder is.
Honestly, though, I would relocate it as birds carry pests. I still have my feeders out, but they are not near by my run.

They will snatch flies and other insects right out of the air so It wouldn't surprise me if they wouldn't try to catch one not even knowing it's a bird. I think a Hummer might just be a little too fast though plus I don't think they would fly that low through where ducks are hanging out.

They so are! Wally is still parted from his hen and ducklings. It may not be natures time but Wanda s feathers say mating season is over this year

We cleaned the pool this morning :clap
:old I still think Wanda and Wally have wet feather :(
Wanda only really enjoys the water if she can touch the bottom and Wally loves that too. The babies like it all! And they are practice flying :clap

:love Muscovy are wonderful entertainment and they learn quickly!

Thank you for asking :D
