ENTIRE flock of GLW... Wiped out overnight! UPDATE!

Even so--25 young birds with nothing but a couple of piles of feathers doesn't sound like a fox. I've lost a few birds to foxes and usually they take one at the time, even pullets. For one thing they don't eat them right there so to carry off that many birds would be a bit of a chore for even a mama with, at most, 4 kits.

Had a fox come in and take and/or kill somewhere in the neighborhood of 18 adult birds in the middle of the day while I was at work. Fox will build winter caches of food.

So no one seems to think that maybe Falcons or other large bird could have done this?? We really don't know for certain if it happened at night or early in the morning....

Last year, we awoke to find all but one of our eleven young ducks dead. Dogs had made a small hole one side, then circled the pen causing the ducks to panic and run out - where they were captured. There was one completely terrified duck left inside. It was a terrible scene to clean up. It must have been a large pack of (?) to have carried off your entire flock. How terrible!

Thanks to all of you for your kind words it means a lot to us....I'm so upset I just want to give up on chickens. My fear is whatever creature did this will come back again.

It was a fox! I went out to check on the mutt flock and I saw him. I thought it was one of the neighborhood cats at first then I saw it hop over the fence.
