I think your Belza are the prettiest. The lepasoila may get cold here in the winter

I love the really ugly stage black chicks go through when they are 3-4 weeks old! With baldy looking grey fluff and jet black feathers hanging out of them.

These birds seem too good to be true? I have added them to my wish list... Ok, ok they are the one and only on my wish list! They have, for whatever reason, really captured my interest!
How do they handle cold weather?
Are there any breeders anywhere near Maine?

From what I have read they handle cold weather really well. Most of the ones I know of are in Canada. There is only 1 known breeder in the US right now and that would be Skyline. He is the one who started this thread and has info on purchasing on page 3. He has a waiting list for these right now. Maybe there is still room. I think he had 25 spots.

Welcome to the thread! As far as we can tell Skyline poultry in Tenesseee is "it" in the US. I am starting breeder list on the Euskaloilois.com site to help people looking but just have one for US and one for Canada. I know there are more in Canada, just need to email them and ask if they want to be on. The breed overwinters in Alberta, Saskatchewean and Manitoba just fine, I think a lot of people heat the coop to above freezing there.

I think we would have a similar climate to you here, cold and snowy, by water and they tend to stay inside in the colder months, Nov to March. The roos can lose comb points to frost, the first one ever did it this last winter. My barn is not heated and the two Euskal roos that were in the open downstairs of my bank barn, the one nearer the open doorway, where temps would be closest to the outside (and we got to -30*C at time-was a really cold one for us) was the one that lots his points. He was in the breeding pen and it didn't slow him down. I guess just take the usual care you would with single combed breeds. The other roos is three and has been downstairs in that barn every winter, away from t he door and he is just fine.

Wow! I see I need to check in more often!! Welcome everyone, who have joined this thread, how exciting. Your Pics sebastopol are amazing!! Can you tell us about the ideal colouring of the hens? I love how mottled mine are, but am not sure it is ideal. Should they be more blond on the body?
