I think you are correct; it was probably running a bit hot which would cause them to hatch early and also probably cause the leg problems. Not sure if this is what you have, but in The Chicken Health Handbook, Gail Damerow lists incubation "temperature too high" as the cause of splayed legs. Then again, she says "temperature too low" is the cause of crooked toes, so if you have both, you got me.I used a Brinsea 20 Eco and never had hatch issues before so I didn't check the thermometer, but since they came 2 days early, I'm guessing the 'bator ran a little too hot. Would this have caused the leg problems?
