pips&peeps
There is no "I" in Ameraucana
We lost power right around 1 pm yesterday because of severe winds. Fortunately I have a big battery back up and both my incubator and hatcher ran for about two hours.
Around 3 pm, the battery back up died and I had to get the generator and plug them in. By the time I pulled it out of storage and pulled the string 100 times to start the darned thing, the temperature got down to around 85 in the hatcher where the goose eggs are. It's a Dickey and obviously not as well insulated as the Sportsman; it was only down to around 94.
When I checked to make sure everything was up and running correctly I told the babies to hang on I'm warming it back up, to which I got a "queek, queek, queek" response........
Anyway after the electricity came back on last night I candled and found out of the 12 eggs I had remaining that there were three pips. One was a quitter, which I was expecting since I candled a few days ago. And the rest, so far, are still alive and jumping around in those eggs. Humidty is up around 68-70 %.
Hatch babies, hatch!!!!!!! 11 goslings would be a great sight.
