Oh...I meant to tell you all about my pampered chickens. On my back porch is an old chair that I put out there for our outside cat, Baby Kitty. I have a blanket over it and an old insulated coat for her to snuggle up in at night. I keep her locked up at night cuz of all the coyotes and bob cats around. Anyway....during the day I have the bottom half of the door open so she can come and go when she wants. Well, the chickens have figured out her food bowl in there as well and they make themselves at home wherever they feel like it. So Sunday I let them free range for awhile since it was nice out.

This one decided to make herself at home...and then

She left me a present. I'm sure she thought it was too cold for me to go clear to the chicken house for her egg! What a sweetie!
One thing about my chickens...they keep me laughin'! Goofy chickens.........

charmed--that pic is just too cute! That was very thoughtful of her to do that for you! My chickens aren't even hardly laying right now. But, I agree, they are good relaxation therapy!

chickenchick--Thanks for the recipe! I am not a big fan of spinach, but I do like it in dips. We are all a big fan of Hidden Valley, so it may go over well. Luckily we don't have it as cold as you do, but when the winds pick up tonight to 30-40 MPH and it drops to single digits, it will be chilly!

jazzy--Seems we always just barely miss you! I will try to send the snow your way when we are done with it!

Speaking of chili, I made a pot last night while I was fixing tacos. So, I just have to go home, warm it up and supper's ready! I doubt the boys will be home to enjoy it unless the forecast is way wrong and we don't get the second blast this evening.

Thunder was a good boy last night. Destiny took the bone away when she got home and we gave it back to him at bedtime. Forgot as I was leaving this morning that Colton would still be there, so I took it to my room for him to chew on back there. As far as I know, he was good this morning also. Hubby has not said any more about taking him to the shelter.

I forgot to tell you guys about Colton Friday night. Hubby misses a call from his boss while we are at the square dance. Calls him back: "I didn't want anything. Just wondered if Colton got a ticket when he got pulled over."

Hubby calls Colton, it goes kinda like this:
Hubby: "How's it going?"
Colton: "Fine"
Hubby: "Anything interesting going on in town tonight?"
Colton: "Nope. Not really."
Hubby: "What about the red lights in your back glass? Care to tell me how that turned out?"
Colton: "How did you find out?"
Hubby: "A good parent never reveals their sources!"

So, he got pulled over for going around a corner too fast. No ticket, just verbal warning. I think they were trying to keep the teens in check that night because 4 of them got pulled over for various things. Still doesn't make it right for him though. He told us since he didn't get an "award" he didn't think he needed to mention it to us. We explained to him otherwise!

Charmed that is the cutest darn thing! How nice of her to bring it to you. I have to tell you girls, its a good thing our nearest neighbors are 3 miles away. Or it would get out how crazy I am. For over 2 months I have been getting 1 egg from 18 hens. It is a tiny egg from my silky, Paris. Once in a while she takes a day off, anyway... Last night I went in to check their heat lamp bulb, water, etc. I found a full size egg!!!!!!! Somebody is back from their vacation

I was so happy I started clapping and yelled, An egg, I am so happy!! Who did this?!

Came in the house to call hubby and tell him about it. By the time I got to talk to him I forgot what the heck I had called him for.

I am losing it!

Let me know how your bread turns out. I am doing another batch of peanut brittle. I ahve to start hiding it if I want any to put in Christmas goodie boxes and trays!

I am glad Thunder got a pardon this time around.

Somehow I can see Raymond reacting like Colton did! We have had things happen where we hear things and ask him. Like how I found out he had a GF because one of my friends works at the Service station they have lunch at. She asked me who the girl was holding his hand??

So I just asked him about having a girlfriend, kept quizzing him. How and what do you know?? All I said is "Small town honey!! You can't get away with much for long!!" He has a couple of friends that swear like sailors, around me! (Hubby put a stop to that) I asked R if he talks like that? Of course he said No. I just reminded him that his Grandma could be in the next isle of the store or around the corner of a building and hear him. I think it helped.

Michelle! That's so funny! I use to catch my girls doing everything! They thought I had special powers!! Always keep them guessing and never give up your sources!! I'm glad Thunder is under control. Eddie was like that when we first got him. Just keep working with him. He's a good dog. I haven't got a hold of my DD for the dip recipe yet. I'll try again tonight.

Chickenchick....The banana bread is wonderful! Thanks so much for the recipe! That is definately one for the "keeper" file!!! My cinnamon red hot applesauce turned out good too! It's a good day to cook! Yea! Oh and you're not losing it! I do the same thing. If I don't hurry up and say what is on my mind, I forget. I think our brains are so full of brilliant information that the little stuff can't fit in!!

That's my story and I'm sticking too it!!

NY...I never get to talk to you! This evening stuff #$%^@# !!! You need to be on when I'm here, dang it!

Chunky Cinnamon Applesauce

8 Medium tart apples, peeled and quartered ( I used granny smith)
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup red hot candies


Place apples and water in a 5 qt saucepan
Cover and cook over med-low heat for about 20 min or until apples are tender
Add sugar and candies and cook uncovered until sugar is dissolved and candies are melted
Remove from heat and cool
Serve slightly warm or chilled

If thats fat, I am well, enormous at 5' 2" and 137. Do you think he could be saying My new girlfriend , that I am denying having , is skinnier than you!
