I had never grown cucumbers befor last year and that was only because I had gotten the seeds in a yarn ball swap with from another BYC member and thought, what the heck why not throw them out there and see what happens. We had so many I was giving them away and the chickens enjoyed all the ones that got too big befor I could get them.

Happy Easter from me too! We are going to Mom's for lunch and then moving the turkeys to the garage! They have rapidly outgrown their indoor brooder!

Chickenchick- I am going to cheat some. I got a topsy turvy for tomatoes and a generic sort of version of it for strawberries. Lol I think it is your fault I spent so much time in the garden section of Wal Mart yesterday!

Ooo! Pictures! Can't wait....................

Instead of Raymond riding the train home his Aunt is going to meet me half way. We haven't seen each other in years, so I am looking forward to it. She is the wife of my x husbands brother. Make sense?! Anyway we were good friends even after I divorced Chris. Then I moved to Conrad so I haven't seen her or my "nephew" in too long! So I will be gone most of the day. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.

Michelle how are Jefferson and Wilson today? Thats funny that you spent time in the garden section!! I wanted to try those topsy turvy things too. Kenny said he wants to build Tom boxes though so I will go that route this year. Maybe I will p[ick up one of those TT things anyway! I have to go through Shelby today and plan to stop at Pamida anyway.

We had a nice lunch at Moms. Then we watched the movie Inglorious Bastards. Have any of you seen it?

Well, Jefferson and Wilson are doing great today! Since I was not planning on getting them, I was not prepared for them. Colton and my parents went to a sale Saturday morning while I slept in and he picked up 2 ducks there for Tonna and then Des and I were going to meet them in Chillicothe for lunch so he went by Orscheln's and they had 8 and Tonna only wanted 6, so on the phone I told Colton we would take the other 2, I didn't want them left at the store by themselves. We met them and stayed for lunch then Colton brought the babies home and we stayed and shopped and brought the parents back that evening. Colton put the 2 babies in with the bigger 2 and although they got along well, Jill is so stinkin' big, she especially kept stepping on them and ultimately got Jefferson's foot and he was having trouble moving around when we got up yesterday morning. So, before we went to Mom's, we took the time to move the turkeys to the brooder in the garage and separated the ducks into their own houses. By the time we got home, Jefferson was getting around just fine. We were late for dinner, but Mom completely understood and called to check on him later!

charmed--You can be jealous of me, but Tonna has 14 baby duckies to spoil as opposed to my mere 4! Any storms? We got some small hail around 6 last evening and it is just starting to rain a little now. We are supposed to get the stronger storms this afternoon.

Michelle....Jefferson and Wilson? Are those your turkey's names or the last 2 ducks you got?

Do any of you use cedar chips in you chicken houses? I use pine right now but my chicken house is accessable for little birds and they like to eat the free food! I have been thinking about using cedar. So...what does everyone think??

Chickenchick...did you like Inglorious Bastards? DH wanted to see it at the movies but we never got a chance to go. Was it any good??

Happy Monday Everyone!

Yes, Wilson and Jefferson are the 2 new ducks. We didn't name the 7 turkeys, they all look alike! We moved the turkeys to the huge "mansion" brooder in the garage to give them more room, put Jill and Jackson in the bigger brooder the turkeys were in and left the babies in the smaller one. The turkeys can now drive hubby crazy in the garage instead of being in the house. They are growing so darned fast!

I have read several places that cedar is bad for birds and most animals. I have even been told not to use them for the guinea pig, so we only use pine. However....We do have a bag of cedar that we use occasionally to cut down on smell. We mixed a little in the turkey brooder yesterday when we set it up. There has been many debates on here about cedar, but I think some mixed with cedar is not going to hurt them, at least it hasn't mine. We especially mixed it when we had the stinky nasty meat birds!

I haven't seen that movie either, but one of my co-workers said it is really good. Des and I would like to rent it sometime. How was it chickenchick?
