Ever feel really stupid?

Sounds like your chickens don't think your crow is as good as you think it is.

You must have been doing the warning crow instead of the I'm here look at me crow, maybe you need more practice, do you know if you cluck your tongue thats a predator on the ground alert.

OOOOH what she said!!

BTW I've been able to get my chickens to coop up with a hawk sound too and my rooster has been answering me since he first start crowing. A lot of times it is the only way I can find the hens when they are free ranging in the blueberry patch.

From about age 2 months up, I played a recording of a rooster crowing. We originally had two roosters (by accident), and the first one crowed at 3 months on the dot, and the younger one at about 2 1/2 months. (We were told the younger one, which we hatched, was a girl. Nope. So we gave the other one back and got some girls.) Now the one we hatched is noisier than anything. Well, he's been noisy since he hatched. But we used to be able to pick him up to quiet him down. He used to want to be held all the time. Now he doesn't want to be touched. Guess he's just too grown up to have mommy hold him. lol
