Ever Heard of this complaint?

I have heard of people complaining that the fresh eggs were too strong and their husband wanted grocery store eggs instead of the farm fresh home grown ones.

I have heard that one before.

The egg yolk is a more brillant yellow or even orange color because of the chlorophyl free range chickens get from eating grass. I think even privately owned cooped chickens get better quality feed than the ones used for mass egg production.

I feed my chickens alfalfa in the winter to keep the yolks a nice pretty color.

If they don't like it, they can go buy the cr_ppy eggs at the store.

There was a chart on an egg site that showed the difference between the free range egg and the store bought ones. The differnce was remarkable. More vitamins, more omega 3, etc. I had the chart some where cuz I was giving it to people that questioned the orange yolks. Any one have the link?

if u use layena sun fresh recipe pellets it's the marigold extract in it that does it. that's why mine are extra golden almost orange colored if i use other feed brands it is to but not like this stuff does it's more a medium in between color. i've only heard excellent compliments on color and taste not complaints from it.

yes, corn doesn't do it but corn will give that yellow apearance to the feathers like a yellow halo or ora look to the chicken, lol.

store bought are vey pale yellow and have a aweful taste to them. real eggs taste and look like they are suppost to cause of proper healthy nutrition and the feed they eat factory chickens unfortunately don't get to live that life of luxery.

I add alfalfa to my flocks feed during the winter months when they can't get any grass and goodies ranging. I like them to have a deep rich yolk.

I know someone who's wife refuses to eat brown eggs, never cared enough to ask why. Just thought it was stupid is all.

my dtr says the same thing- and my sons old therapist said she didn't like homegrown eggs (she never tried ours) because they tasted "gamey"

Our eggs are a dark orange color, maybe it is because of what we feed them? Most of our chickens are young hens with only a couple of older ones, the young chickens lay smaller eggs and darker yolks, yummy.

People are so funny!! We had to buy store eggs last week (my hens are trying but can't keep up with ten people in this house); anyway, I cracked the store bought egg into the pan and literally said,"Oh my, it's anemic!!" It had been so long since I'd had a store bought egg that I actually forgot how sad looking they are.

My sons friend was here one day and he saw my daughter bring in fresh eggs from the hen house. He started asking questions and before long got a strange look on his face and said that if our eggs come from chicken behinds .... he wasn't ever going to eat them again!

Where does he think the store bought eggs come from??

People are strange aren't they? It's amazing how some people don't think home raised chickens and their eggs can be any good for you. Don't they know what our ancestors did for food way back in the day?
