. Everything is going well. I've been letting my chicks out in an outside pen a bit lately. They love eating the grass and stuff, they're so adorable! I was able to take some good pictures of them also. I'll make sure to post a couple. There isn't too much new with everything else. The weather is changing too much though...me nor my chickens like it :(. I've been starting to plan what I'm gonna do with my flock next year I'm gonna.................................Oh, oops. Ha ha! I'm gonna keep you on suspense

Update: 11-17-13:
I know, long-time no update, don't remind me XD. A lot has been going on.....We have rescued to rabbits, a Mini Lop and a Mixed breed. The temperatures are getting colder and colder and we need to start putting lights in the coop at night. Anyways, my flock plan. So, since my production birds have ceased to lay for SO long, I will be getting rid of some of them (probably: Lacy, Johanna, Queenie, Ginger, and maybe Sweety). Next, I'll replace them with a small breeding flock of 3 or 4 of Millie Fleur d'Uccles. I'm hoping everyone will go smoothly, but we'll have to see. I'm hoping all of my chickens will make it through the winter, because it's suppose to be really, really cold. I also, STILL, need to treat my birds for mites, hopefully I'll get that done soon. That's pretty much it for now, thanks for reading!

Winter, winter, winter, winter, winter....!!!

Winter has come, fast and hard on us. A few weeks ago we rescued another rabbit, "Oreo." Oreo is a mixed breed (most like a New Zealand/Mini Rex cross), so now we have 4 rabbits. Are doe, Crystal, who we expected to have babies didn't, which is a bit of a disappointment. Now onto the chickens...*sigh*. It's been so hard for them the last few weeks. It's been cold and windy, and even though the coops are fairly winter-proof, we've had to make some adjustments to it. First, we sealed the ventilation systems, second, we added a heat-lamp in there for warmth. It seems to be working a little bit, although the water is still freezing so it's obviously reaching below freezing temperatures. My Cochin Bantam rooster (I still can't believe he's almost all grown up now!!!), has been having comb problems, so I have been putting avoe vera on his comb as I suspect he has frostbite. He seems to be doing better, besides the fact that call of the chickens are pecking at his comb and making it bleed. Alas, I'm counting down the days tell winter ends, it's so hard to take care of animals in frigid temperatures like this. I'm so thankful for all my animals, good or bad temperament. Besides the fact that there's a lot of work I've had to put into these days, I've been really happy and cheerful as I should be :) God bless! ~Brent
