Everyone's a critic now.

The farmer recently harvested his corn. It's been a thing of mystery to the chickens who would thankfully only go in a row or two. Some of them are young enough that all they know is that cornfield there.

The day it got harvested, it was loud! They ran like heck, some to the coop. Most stopped and turned around to gawk.

It was hilarious seeing them all standing there for about 5 minutes, not moving, just watching.
Probably mourning the loss of their hideout

I sing to my chickens when I go into the run. I apologize for the noise when I go by the run to get some wood from the woodpiles. When I winterize or springerize (de-winterize?) the coop, I explain that they will really like the results, so it'll be worth the noise/confusion.

I know that they understand what the "chickie snack" song means!
I introduce myself as I approach the coop now. And I say goodnight at lock up time. It’s just a habit now.

I always talk to my chiggenz as I walk out the door or anywhere around them.

I also talk to them constantly, but I live in the suburbs. My neighbor's three girls tell me whenever their father comments on him hearing me or the chickens, seems like they all hear my crazy chicken talk! I wondered how they always knew when I was outside, considering they do not have a view into my yard. And here I thought I was being quiet!

They are spying on you. :gig

So it turns out, that my flock are apparently all horrible fashion snobs.
Went out this afternoon, wearing my new pair of board shorts, that are white with a blue pattern, to let everyone out to range. They all went bananas, like I was a huge fox or something. Thought about it and realized I had the same thing happen, when I wore my bottle green T-shirt a few days before.
Anyone have their chooks freak out over what you are wearing? Is it a color thing? Or are they just so used to my normal home rags that they didn't recognize me wearing something new? I know that while they are fine with me, strangers showing up make them run and hide in a panic.
My chickens do the same thing if I my dress differently. And if I bring a stranger in the same thing happens
