Eww

That is really awesome looking (as long as it doesn't mean anything detrimental for the hen, of course)! But I am a fan of weird stuff

I'm sad we didn't get to see the inside of the weird little ball though lol

I will never open a elongated egg again!

I have a new layer who has been giving me tons of elongated eggs... they have had two tiny yolks inside :love But I have one more that hasn't been cracked... I'm crossing my fingers for something cool like yours!

Wyorp Rock-That video was informative- the ball could have been an unready yolk (but it wasn’t yellow, it was more tissue color) but had all those veins. Thank you
Probably a "large white follicle". Interesting stuff Huh?:)

Well.....you really don't want something "cool" like this LOL While it may just be a laying glitch with the OP's hen, if it's consistent then possibly it's a sign of future reproductive problems. I have yet to find a cure or fix for repro problems which are sadly common in laying hens.

Elongated eggs can be "normal" for a particular pullet/hen, she may lay those throughout her lifetime as well. Nothing you can really do about that either - but you do want to watch to make sure there's not a lot of stress, no lice/mites, worms, etc. As she gets older the double yolk and elongation may correct itself, but if she continues, I would keep an eye on her, sometimes eggs get huge and they have a hard time laying them and may prolapse.

Ideally, you want "normal" eggs.

UGH! I have only 1 chicken left and she laid these 2 HUGE cracked eggs which I immediately put in the fridge, she hasn't laid since and I am half scared to open them...lol. My hen is almost 2 years old...she has lost a few feathers over the past few weeks, but not very many, like maybe 10 total in the 2 weeks...she seems fine, I don't really notice anything wrong, but the eggs....I one time had a totally rotten egg - it was black and man alive I can still smell it a year later. Always crack your eggs separately in a small dish as sometimes you get a little something in there, just scoop it out....normal, but that other big thing - not normal. Have a great November!!

I had a hen lay a really huge egg which was a fully formed smaller egg inside a larger egg of yolk and albumin. She never laid another egg and fell ill about 2 months after laying this egg and I had to euthanizer her.

Is the smaller ball just a smaller yolk? Blood can happen from ruptured blood vessels. It may be a once in a lifetime occurrence, hopefully. :)
It looks like a smaller yolk. I have a young hen that sometimes lays an egg that has a LOT of blood in it and a flesh ball about the size of a small pea. I think it is just a glitch in her reproductive tract and hope that as she ages, it will diminish. But until then, all her eggs go to the dogs. I do break each of my eggs in a separate container until I know it is ok to cook with.
