I have six eggs in bator, I like to give them names before they hatch. I have an olive colored one I will name olive. A blue one I will name Oceana, a fat coco maran egg will be named Oxona, a cream colored one named Ova, a light brown one named Orabel, and a brown one named Oralee.
My other chicks I hatched recently are EE/RIR mixes- Helene and Jan, then these I will probably give to a friend: (Coco Maran mixes are CeCe, Carol, Cal, Valerie, and Nelly.)
Then I have:
Marilyn- white silky ( feed store)
Penelope- Bantam EE (got from a farm)
Tweety-EE (feed store)
Baby Gaga-EE/silky mix ( fridge egg hatched myself)
Wendy- Welsummer (feed store)
Beauty- Silver Lace Wyandotte (feed store)
Bell-Blue Andalusian (Meyer hatchery)
Matilda- Golden laced Wyandotte (feed store)
Dorothy- White leghorn (feed store)
Diana- Blue splash maran (meyer hatchery)
Chub- EE (Meyer hatchery)
Daphne- silky/cochin (farm)
Buffy- Buff Orpington mix (Hatched myself)
Henry- Coco Maran/brown leghorn mix (hatchedmyself)
It seems like a lot but after I give away some chicks I will have 22. 18 of which will be layers, and 3 broodies and a roo.
Hi! I have an update and pics of all my chickens! Remember the chicken I couldnt name? Well she turened out to be a cockerel, and I traded him in for a pullet last week. I went with "Fiona", and the new one is "Fiona the Second".
Here is the first Fiona...clearly a cockerel now that I am an expert. Ha ha.
This is the replacement (about a week later, and therefore older in this pic) She is a Blue Marans/Americauna OE. Almost 7 weeks. (Breeder Stock)
Devil, Americauna, 4 weeks (Hatchery Stock)
Sunny Side Up, Golden Sexlink, 4 weeks. (Are Golden Sexlinks and Red Comets the same thing?) Hatchery.
Katniss, Barred Rock, 4 weeks, Hatchery Stock
Olive (Black Olive), BCM, 7 weeks- Breeder Stock
Oreo, SLW, 5 weeks, Hatchery Stock (does everyone agree this is a pullet?)
Stormy, Blue Copper Marans, 7 weeks, Breeder Stock
Finn, Buff Orpington, 5 weeks, Hatchery Stock
Any and all comments and critiques are welcome. What do you all think of my girlies? I just love them and cant wait to move them to the coop!
cute! remember my olive egg? She is the one to the upper right...I named her that because she was a greenish yellow...
my Olive is the really black one to the front right this is her just hatched
This is all of my chicks 1 week later, they are 2 weeks old now. Olive is the one closest to the yellow these guys are all set up just as all the eggs were. The blue one hatched but was the last one on day 23 1/2 and didn't make it.
