I loathe jaywalkers.

There was a girl at our HS... pouring rain, going less than the limit over a slightly risen RR track crossing. Well immediately on the other side was a JOGGER in all gray with blaring headphones. She tried to stop, but clipped the woman. Press had a FIELD DAY... screaming about immature, reckless teen drivers... eventually they printed the fact that the woman was jogging in the RAIN, ignoring horns (headphones on couldn't hear), in all grey (basically camo in that weather) and that she jaywalked right into traffic. But for many months that girls' life was a mess.

I don't know where these people get the idea that they're immortal, but someone needs to knock some sense into them before a semi does.

Not sure what state you hail from but here, people in the road have the right of way - whether they should be there or not. To be honest, if I was walking across the street and you were in such a hurry to get past me, that you had to swerve? That would be a strong indication that you are traveling too fast.

Are you saying that in the state of MA it is legal for some one to walk right down the middle of the street?

I can't imagine how it would be legal for a pedestrian to hold up traffic on a state hwy, U.S. Hwy or an interstate.

And besides that-- even if it is legal to walk down the middle of the street, you are putting your two feet into a contest with thousands of pound of vehicle. If you and the vehicle connect-- sure you might be right, but you dang for sure gonna be hurt. Me I think I'd stay out the hwy.​

I do not know how MANY times I go down the city blocks, usually in the low income subvision and they acted like they owed the road. Sloooooooooooow as they do it, dress in black and pants down to their thighs . Too many times cars would swerved to miss them, the mph was 30 and they were alot slower but still!

There are kids that love to tempt drivers to do some skin scrap on themselves to see how close they can get to a car going past them without getting hurt.

They can not run out of the way because of their low riding jeans, and believe it or not, some of the paramedics said sometimes the pants fell down to their ankles or totally off of them when they got hit. I had a woman yelling at me for "getting in her way" when it is was four lane street and she was crossing it while she had a very lively conversation with someone on her cell phone and at the same time, play slapping her female friend.

If you are out after midnight, if you ever cross any of those people at night, you might just find a gun waiting for you either to rob you or blow your head off.

It is not safe anymore in that neighborhood even with the new housing they have built a few years ago.

Legal or not legal, at the end of the day the vehicle wins. If the driver of the vehicle was following all traffic laws and the pedestian gets in the way and then hit, the driver may lose their license during the investigation, but in the end may not even get a citation. I have had to deal with teens walking down the roadway and I just started using my horn. After about three days of that more parents started coming outside to see what all the noise was about and by the end of the week there were teens walking on the shoulders and some of them were walking with their parents. We still have problems with it, but it is less than half the problem it was. BTW I have a 15 and 16 year old and they walk the shoulders to prevent me from holding their hands as they walk down the road.

I've driven in MA often enough to know PEOPLE ALWAYS have the right of way. My grandfather was waiting at a stop sign when his passenger door was crashed into by a cyclist coming off the sidewalk. Gramps had to pay for a new bike. A suicidal maniac jumped off a bridge over an intersection - landing on top of a passing car. The insurance company of the motor vehicle had to pay for the maniacs funeral. If you are driving on the Cape it doesn't matter where people are trying to cross - this area lives mainly on tourism - it doesn't pay to kill your customers.

Not in Idaho. Here, you cannot get the state to put up a "SLOW children at play" sign, because according to the police, and I quote "The street is for cars, not children." I once had some kids riding their bikes, very slowly, in the street, enjoying slowing down the traffic. My truck has air horns mounted in the grille. Hoowee, I enjoyed that.​

I was driving in my neighborhood several years ago when a 7 year old girl started racing my car on her bike. I slowed way down and she darted IN FRONT of me and flew down a side street.

If I had hit her, it would have been my fault and I would have never driven again. That is one of many reasons I moved out of that part of our state to the farm county. The intelligence factor in that town wasn't the greatest.
