Brilliant.

I just threw out 9 bad ones too. Oh man, that just might work. I'm getting ready to go candle again and I bet I throw out another 3 or 4. I must replace them!

That's what I did. I asked and talked about it for a year, and then finally he said yes over winter. So in the spring I went to the TSC and brought them home. He was like, "Hey! Why are there ducks in the bathtub and chickens in the kitchen?"

I replied with, "We talked about this! You said we could get some!" (6 months ago.) Bwah ha ha ha ha ha.

I must replace them, OMG that is soo funny. Good luck to you..

I'm trying to hatch as many dorking eggs as i can, as they seem to have fertility issues right now (single roo with 2 hens, so i'm limited by my options). so now i have a rotating hatch going on, and the last batch of shipped eggs were to keep the dorkings company. 8) but like quackerjackfarms, i've thrown away 11 of the 24 eggs so far... so i'll need more eggs to keep the next round of dorkings warm. 8)

Lol this thread is too funny

Thankfully mine doesn't have this problem, when I first told him I wanted to get some chickens like around a half dozen or so he got MAD because that wasn't enough. He had some very strong arguements as to why I NEEDED to start out with 50. Such as well you have to look at your losses, your going to lose 10% right off the bat, and even if you order all pullets 10% are going to be boys and he was figuring predator loss, etc etc etc. He wants to get me a sportsmans incubator so I can hatch out more eggs (mind you I am hatching my first rounds of babies right now thanks to the help of some broody hens) and build me an insulated brooding shed. If he had his way I would have about 400 birds, he drew up housing plans for them and once again had very persuasive arguements that it wont take me any more time to take care of that many than it would to take care of 1.

He doesn't want me to order hatching eggs becuase he is afraid that they won't hatch due to all the stress in shipping.

He won't let me get any silkies cause he says they are too delicate but I already have plans to get some cause a neighbor down the road has some so I plan on getting some eggs from him and incubating them with some other eggs, then suprise.

We have other "discussions" about chickens because he is a midwestern farm boy (hence the logic of why I need large numbers of chickens) and I grew up mostly in L.A. and yes I had chickens there including my pet RIR roo.

SCG

6 dogs, 2 cats and around 6 dozen chickens.
