Exotic Critters!Anybody own Any ?

Wow lasergrl! I bet you have to have some sort of license for those.
What I have are in my siggy approximately.

When I was in Panama, last year we kept 3 mouse opossums that were orphaned by a dog. This time around in Panama I had some temporary "pets" that included an adult mouse opossum, a caiman, and a capuchin monkey. To be fair, the latter was 100% unintentional; I rescued it from being sold and had to keep it for 3 days until a rescue center came and took it. Poor guy

The only pets I have that are maybe considered exotic are my 4 tarantulas, all different species.

Pretty_Chicken- what are the two middle ones, they look like both Grammostola pulchripes to me..? Also, is your Brachypelma smithi a boy perchance? It looks a little leggy.

In Ohio you only need a liscense to sell native animals like raccons and really there is no reason to need a liscense for non natives. The care of a serval is alot less involved then some livestock and alot less dangerous. People dont think of that though. My bull could get out and kill someone but no one cares that I have it because alot of people have them. The serval though, even though he is only 25 pounds, people think he is dangerous

You do need a usda liscense to breed and sell them but I dont so not needed. The savannah cats are considered domestic by usda so I dont need a liscence to sell those.

The serval is a pain in the butt and I dont recommend them for the most part, unless you have an outdoor enclosure for it. they just cant be littertrained 100% no matter what the breeder websites tell you. Even if spayed and neutered. They are also like toddlers in that they go from super happy to super mad in a snap of a finger

They also need a special diet, mainly raw meat with supplements.

The fennec is pretty awsome. I do recommend them. I find her much easier to care for then a ferret, but they generally only like one person, some like more. When a fennec doesnt like someone, they better get out of the way

Those teeth are sharp, but they only weigh about 3 pounds. Little Napoleons.

And yes, they are expensive, but you get what you pay for! Fennecs are around $2,000 but in my opinion make much better pets then reds, and they do not have any skunk smell like reds. Servals are around $2,500 dont think I will be getting another after Marley. He is 8 years old.

The geoffroys cat is cool, but I never socialized her with other animals so she would try and kill anything not human, even though she is 5 pounds, she grabs the lab by the throat, he just looks at her like she is weird. When raised around other animals they do quite well with them.

I have had a hedgehog and a skunk and loved them both. The skunk was one of the best pets my family ever had. I really hope to find a place to get another one someday!

I have lots of reptiles and amp. I do love my savannah monitor and my pixie frog, of course my dubia roaches are rare. My most exotic pet right now is my muscovy as it's not legal in my city to have them:)
