Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

Less than 2 weeks to go for me. I was 1-2 cm & 20% effaced at the 36 week check-up and I haven't wanted to be checked again. I can tell things are changing - the head feels lower, the Braxton-Hicks are packing a punch and I see evidence the mucus plug is breaking up. Right now, everyone in the house has a nasty cold (including me), so I'm hoping the baby stays put until everyone is healthy. I really don't want to bring a new baby home to a house full of sick people.

I'm pretty much ready. I still have a few things to add to my hospital bag. I just set up the swing, bouncy seat and changing table. I've done a lot of organizing around the house and it's been staying pretty clean (despite 3 other kids determined to mess it up.) We finally decided on Jacob Alexander for the baby's name - we couldn't decide on anything for the longest time! We both like the name Jacob and Alexander was my grandfather's middle name.

Well I hope your birth goes as well as DH's Cousins this Morning. She went into Labor at 4:30 this morning and by 7:30 this morning she added her 5th little girl to her family. She called her mother at 5am and told her her contractions were 1 minute apart, and her mom of course said get to the Hospital, but she and her DH were still waiting for a babysitter for the other 4 girls to get there. LOL. She didn't expect this, because with the other 4 she had to be induced after her due date.

My baby boy is here!

I went 4 days past my due date.

Jacob Alexander
12/2/10 1:30pm
6lbs, 15oz
20" long

My labors have always been long and this one was no exception, about 20 hours from start to finish, all natural. I pushed about 20 seconds, the doctor didn't even get a chance to get both gloves on. I feel great right now, no pain at all. Jacob is healthy - nursing well, sleeping as well as newborns do, no complications. The other kids were so excited to meet him!

He is so cute!!

I'll be getting my ultrasound on Tuesday to see if I have to go with a c-section or if I can go for a natural birth. The midwife said she would be very surprised if it moves enough, so I'm expecting a c-section. It will be around the 21st.

not long now! c-sections aren't as bad as I'd feared before I had mine, honestly I don't know what I was so worried about. You'll be fine if you do have to have one.

can't wait! I have my ultrasound on the 13th...what do you think it is? I feel pretty confidant I have a boy (idk why, just a feelin). My DH thinks that too, but my ma and sis think it's a girl.

I am convinced it's a boy, DH is too, but Sister in law thinks it's a girl, the rest of the family has no Idea, lol. I wasn't planning on finding out, but I am so convinced it's a boy that the nursery is turning out very blue, even though we tried to go nuteral, and the nursery closet is filling with very boyish clothes
