I have a pip that's about 45 minuets old seen here in the picture

As you can tell, it's downwards and at the wrong end. What all can i do about that you think? These egg's are the most expense ones i have ever bought and i would hate to lose a chick at hatching time. I know the obvious answer is wait it out at this moment, but the last time i got a bottom pip at the wrong end the chick just died in the shell on me. I thought about sticking a wire through the vent hole somehow and rolling the egg over so at least the pip would face upwards. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You said it already.

I would leave it alone... if it were my egg.
Good luck & let us know how it works out.

lol thank's for your input! I took a big risk buying these egg's, i just hope it turns out for the better.

It's way to early to do anything but keep the humidity right and wait.
Give it 24 hours. If the baby has pipped, he has air and should be able to get out on his own.
If after 30 hours or so there is no progress you can re-evaluate.

Sooooo...
What are they? What breed?
Just curious. It had nothing to do with the pip, but I wondered what kind of chicks you were so excited about.
I have some BLRW eggs coming in the mail. Hopefully they'll be here by Friday.
What are yours?

if I had paid a lot of $ for some eggs and one pipped like that, I would get a spray bottle of warm water, open the lid, mist the eggs, pull that pipped egg and make sure the beak had FULL ACCESS to air, mist that egg and put it back and THEN leave it alone for better or worse, but that's just me. Mist down the whole inside of the hatcher if you want the humidity up. I'd rather risk it that way because I have lost quite a few that pipped low by just leaving them.

I would NOT touch that egg. The chick has already gotten itself in position to zip, so don't go flipping it over and making things worse. I've had chicks hatch upside down in an egg carton, so don't panic.

thanks, this has helped me out the most so far! lol. To answer you question Pegan, these are light sussex egg's that have been split over by Coronation sussex rooster's. Also there is a possibility that some of them will be pure coronation. I have a split pair that's a few month's old and 1 coronation rooster that's about 2 month's old. I need these babies to hatch so i can get a good jump start on my hopeful breeding program late this summer. My grandmother introduced me into this breed because she was raised in Australia before she came over to the states. I believe i am even more excited about my coronation project than she is lol.

I hatched in egg cartons and had a few pip at the bottom, one even had blood around the pip, I figured I'd lost that one for sure, but about 24+ hours later with nothing from that egg it hatched just fine. and it lived to tell the story! I'd let nature take its course!!
