explain something about dove to me.

I live in West Texas, and am an avid dove hunter.
So technically I love dove.

One thing I don't
understand about people who raise dove is why?
I understand the hobby aspect of it, but is there
another reason people do it? Is it profitable, or
do they eat the eggs, or eat the dove? Just curious
not bashing anyone who raises doves.

Pets and Profit. I plan to sell extra birds to pet store...and locally. They are fun birds with great personalitys....and make great sounds. Also and avid dove hunter here....so If I get hungrary for dove I just grab the shotgun....not about to eat my ringnecks!

Most all raise them for pets or just a hobby. People do raise pigeon to eat(squb) which are just larger doves.

Dont know anyone that raise doves to eat.

They are very sweet and about one of the only pet birds who will never bite you. I bring mine to schools and churches for kids to play with, hold and pet. They are very tolerant of everyone. I also enjoy their cooing and how they interact with their mate. They are a very peaceful bird. I used to raise them but only have two for pets now as they really aren't that profitable.
