Hi, It's been raining buckets here for days. The 2 farm hens, RIRs, seemed not to know to get out of the rain. Everytime I saw them they were soaked. Yesterday one was finally in the coop. Her eyelid seemed to be swollen shut. When I checked on her later, it was open a tiny bit. Today it's swollen shut again, and she has a runny nose. I have penned her up alone in the corner of the covered porch. She did drink & eat for me. Any thoughts? Thanks

Luckily the school has 2 courtyards, so the farm birds are isolated, completely now from the rest of the flock. I put some antibiotics in their water. I figure if the one was sick, maybe the other wouldn't be far behind. As I was moving the other, she seemed to sneeze. They are eating & drinking. Any ideas?

There is a link somewhere on her for symptoms of common diseases..actually it may even be a "Sticky Topic" in the emergencies section. See if that helps at all....but the AB
s seem like a good idea.

go to your feed store and ask what med they have for MG or chronic respiratory disease... use that for your entire flock... also give the bird some extra vitamin A (look in your baby vitamin section at the store for this) ...three drops for a week as vit A def usually is present with respiratory conditions...
