Eerie screamed in pain, but it was over as quick as it came. The egg plopped into the nest silently, and she collapsed inn top of it, panting.

Eerie stood up to look at the egg. But for a moment, she didn’t even see it. It was such a rich, deep moss green that it blended into the moss. It had speckles and hints of brown. It had a glossy shine to its dark shell. It was even greener and darker than Henri’s, the only other green layer in the flock. It was the most beautiful egg she had ever seen.

“Toad, look!” She gasped out.

Sage ran over. “Stop it! What is wrong with you, flogging your own chick? What did he even do?”

Sage ran over. “Stop it! What is wrong with you, flogging your own chick? What did he even do?”

Sparrow stopped flogging Duck, who was cowering in fear and pain on the ground, and turned on Sage.

Toad looked up from his misery and saw Eerie standing, and gasped in shock. "It beautiful!"

Eerie rolled it out in front of her. It was so pretty.

"He was with that freak! He must be punished."

Sparrow stopped flogging Duck, who

was cowering in fear and pain on the ground, and turned on Sage.

(Sage is really high in the pecking order BTW)
Sage stared at her. “What freak?”

Sage said coldly.
(Surprise, surprise. Fern is actually her daughter but was raised by her aunt, thinking she was her mother.)
