Face is swollen, oozing, and smelly. Rampant infection? *pg 2 new pics

I would say cold compresses for swelling, warm compresses can actually increase the swelling (I think). Pretty sure it's better to use cold.

It needs to be drained. Is there a scab on the puncture sight? If so, is there a way you can pick it off to open that up so it'll drain? I know it's a gross job but I'm pretty impressed with what you've done so far. Few people can do what you've done for him up to this point.

Ah crud, I have been doing hot compresses.

And no, there's no scab on the puncture, I'm not even sure if it's a puncture but there's a teeny hole above the eye. I was advised to use a sterile needle to poke a hole in one of the bumps and see if it drains any puss. Will have to search for the sewing needles tomorrow. Were still unpacking from a move so it will literally be like finding a needle in a haystack!

I am worried the penicillin isn't working

the lady at the feed store said we can only use it for four days and tomorrow will be day three. I'm worried I won't see any inprovement before then an then he will have nothing to help him battle this

Try something called LA200. It works on a wide range of bacterial infections. It also works on Coryza, JUST IN CASE. For a bantam, I would do 1/2 cc in muscle 2 times a day.

Cold will reduce swelling/inflammation but while warm will increase swelling it will also draw more blood flow to the area which will help with healing. Either way would be okay, though, I figure. Though warm will help the pus to drain more.

Okay, maybe I'll just alternate between hot and cold compresses.

No I sure hadn't thought of that, and I think someone suggested it at some point buy it got lost in the pages. I don't know if UNR still has an ag department but I will call them tomorrow and ask
