Facebook Foolishness

I think a lot of what people post on FB is ridiculous. So many people complain ALL the time, or post their relationship and personal information on the stupid site.

I've caught a friend in a couple of lies via facebook. Suffice to say I don't consider him a friend anymore.

I've also known several people to ruin their relationships because they got jealous of something the opposite sex posted on their BF or GF's facebook. I also hate that people use facebook to determine the status of people's relationships.

Facebook is annoying on so many levels. I don't know why I still have one sometimes! It is useful to keep in touch with old friends and to show off my photography and artwork, but that's about it.

The rule I use is that I don't put anything on FB that I wouldn't want to see on the front page of the local newspaper with my name attached to it (my real name).

In theory you can print the whole page as is, but I've never been able to get that button to work right. But yeah, definitely save a copy because a person can go and delete their posts anytime.

Eh, closest I've come to a 'rat' was the mom who posted that her Jr High DD had been sick, got tested for swine flu, negative, so sent her back to school sick... got bad so back to doc and retested for swine, positive so THEN she kept her home. But didn't stop sending her Elementary aged one to school with MY two. Her doc told her that test is only 50% accurate, but WHY oh WHY would you send your kids to school knowing they had ANY flu, n'mind swine or not? I went on to notify my peeps that a kiddo at ours' school's big sister was positive and to tell yours to be extra good about washing hands and such.

That mom unfriended me. Seriously? You posted that on FB, knowing your friends with MANY parents at both schools, and you're upset that those parents went on to warn other parents that that illness was detected in our area... goob. Course she always was a bit off IMO.

There are privacy settings that can be utilized to lock posts from anyone's view or everyone's view..people forget to use them.

Chicken.Lytle :

Some companies scan the Facebook/Myspace/Twitter/etc of their employees.

Yuppers, if you don't want your job able to read your posts then don't accept their friend request. Do that and you just gave them permission to read whatever you post.

The company that I am leaving on Dec 17th. (YEAH!) searches the net for any references to them. If they find anything they consider negative and can trace it to an employee, that employee is terminated.
This is a very large international company with lots of IT resources, what's funny is they can't do a webex. They are always messed up.

I work for a fairly big company and we have that policy too, it's touchy. The expect managers to be monitoring some of this to the point that several of my peer managers "unfriended" all coworkers so that they wouldn't be accountable if someone posted on that mgr's FB wall.

As part as the OP catching "rats" the local Cleveland news tonight was highlighting the fact that the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Dept was capturing almost 2 wanted criminals per day through FB.
