Fairly new & needing help! Sneezing, gurgling & weird breathing

I have 3 chickens that are sneezing, gurlging, & breathing weird. I'm fairly new to chickens & have NO clue how to handle this, so I'm needing help, please.
One has a bit of a runny nose, too. When they breath, they stretch out their necks & open their beaks to take breaths. Please help! I would like to get meds or whatever I need today, if possible.

What kind of bedding are you using? If the bedding you are using is very dusty, this will cause respitory problems! Use bedding such as pine shavings. Cedar shavings are toxic to chicks. Or you can use newspaper covered in paper towels, not napkins, and this will prevnt spraddle leg. This could also be a respitory disease, such as black lung.

OH MY GOSH!!! I checked into respitory disease signs, and your chicks are exhibiting the signs of a respitory disease! You may want to get this checked out by a veterinarian! If you have other chickens, do not let these chicks come in contact with these chicks. Don't handle other chickens after handling these chicks!!!

Tylan 50 injectable for cattle. Dose depends on age and size. Can give by beak. I find it at tractor supply. Keep them away from all other chickens, handle and feed them last and with seperate equipment. Chickens don't get colds...most respitory illness stay with the bird and may transfer by dander, liquids,, shoes, clothes etc to others.

The chickens are outside in our coop w/ fenced yard. There is hay on the floor & they have roosts.
The boy at TSC gave me Duramycin-10 powder to put in their water. He said that this is common for this time of year & that this works.
We will be seperating the sick ones & giving them this for 7-14 days (according to directions).
Unfortunately, we do not have a vet who will see birds even remotely close by, so that is not an option.

The powder really isn't much for respitory issues. Seems like everyone who works at these stores don't know much about chickens..... the Tylan 50 is what you need, it is only $10 for a bottle vs the powder which is almost useless.

I had something similar when I first got my girls and it ended up being 2 things.

The first was a respiratory disease (like a cold for chickens, but much worse) and our local vet gave us some antibiotics for that. Our girls showed noticeable improvement within a matter of days. Not sure on the name of what he gave us though?

The second was a case of gape worm, and we had to track down a special treatment for that particular worm, because of course no one has it in stock when you need it!

I'll see if I can get the Tylan 50. Can I give them the Duramycin in the mean time? How many days of either before I should see a difference? If I can get the Tylan 50 - how many days do they get it?

You give the Tylan for 3-4 days. I don't think it would hurt to use the powder until you can locate some. It will be with cattle medications. Please do a search on poultry respitory illnesses so you know the whole bag of worms these problems intail to you have a good understanding. You are basically treating the symptoms not curing the illness. But it is a lot of info to go over for these slow fingers...lol
