I like golf balls since they're cheap and easy to get, and you can easily tell that they're not real eggs, even if groping blindly under a hen, yet the birds readily accept them as egg analogs.

Golf balls should be fine! I used ping pong balls for mine and I've only had 2 lawn eggs in 3 months. I suppose it depends on how picky your hens are though lol some can be finickyHey guys, our girls are 18 week old EE and not yet laying. Which do hens seem to prefer? Maybe their wondering where their tiny golf clubs are?!
