Fake smiles in photographs

My mom started taking my brother's and my picture the day we were each born. As kids, we were trained very well to smile when a camera was pointed at us! It carries with me to this day. Usually I just smile automatically, because it's what I was taught to do! I don't really mind my picture taken. The one thing I do hate is when I smile, my eyes look squinty. I was cursed with spanish smiling eyes!

it's a cultural thing... when I was in Turkey and Egypt, people don't give you that "cheese" smile when you point a camera in their direction. they compose their faces pleasantly, but you don't get to take pictures of their teeth.

with me, you have a choice, either you can see my smile, or you can see my eyes... pick one. if you pick the smile, someone is sure to ask... do you have some asian blood in you? because I have *no* eyes! they squink down to nothing when I smile.

My fake smile usually comes out when we're on holiday, and I'm being forced to have my photo taken in front of every building, sign and interesting feature.

Ten times.

My jaw eventually hurts from all the smiling, and I can't help but start to grimace.
