Fake smiles in photographs

I have forced a smile a time or two but I generally try to convey an expression of grim death when being photographed.

Nothing fake here, what you see is what you get. I think very few people can really fake a smile well enough to not notice it is fake. Smiling in pictures is a relatively new concept given the history of photographs.

I think it's because, in a real smile, where humor is involved, the muscles around the eyes, and the eyes, themselves, also change expression....A fake smile is sort of a bottom half smile, and belies exactly what is happening.

" The eyes are a window to the soul " or some such nonsense.
But I agree with Royd that a real smile lights up the face, not just the mouth.

But all smiles don't involve "haha" humor. There are smiles for different reasons.

I for one sure would like to know what somebody is saying that is p oing the admin so bad. : )

You mean like a, I was here first, and I'm going to order a double frappe latte, with a chocolate swirl and you can just wait your turn, kind of smile?

I suppose it would depend on the individual. If it were me - and you were standing behind me in line, it would be more of a smile than a smirk...because I think I'd genuinely enjoy making you wait.

"Oh, I'm sorry - could you add some cinnamon?" "You know - let me order another for later...."

It is not wise to question the ways of the mods,

not very smart to make them mad with so few posts to your credit either.
