Fall 2013 Carolina Chickenstock

I hope I get around to your place to look at the peas. If they are 2-3 months old and are not white, they are easy to sex. I am still learning but have gotten a great mentor and am doing pretty good. I also would love more lav Silkies.

I will be bringing the following silkies:
3 pairs of porcelain/SBC and a couple of extra cockerels to give everyone a choice.
2 blue pullets with either blue cockerel or splash cockerel (pairs only)
Splash cockerel that I got from Barbara Grubb
1 white pair
1 calico pair

I will have honey pints $8 creamed honey half pints $6

For those picking up silkies, baby peas, or sizzles/frizzles from me Saturday; I will be in a gray pickup with camo turkey decals on the rear quarterpanel. A tan tent with 3 4X4 pens of silkies/sizzles/frizzles. I also have a large sign that says Marshas Silkies.

I will have silkies in blue, black, white, lavendar, maybe porcelain and maybe even partridge. Will sort them tomorrow and know for sure. Also have 2 pea hens that are about 5 months old. And 3 younger peas that are about 2 to 3 months old. Colors haven't developed yet so they are unsexed unless you can sex better than I can. Also have several frizzle / sizzles. I used a frizzle and a sizzle roo with silkies to get these cuties.

I have 4 grown barred rock roos that are about 5 months old. I want $5 each. Will only bring if someone wants them.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. And so glad the weather is going to be really nice for us, unlike Spring's rain.

Marsha (I am NPIP tested)

Are the Barred Rocks LF? not interested in bantams right now.

For those of you picking up birds from me I will be in a blue ford explorer. with a farm sign hanging from the open hatch back. farm sign says. 'Shadow Oak Farm.' you can see the sign in my avatar.

Yes Mitch. They are LF.

Just did a sort and count. Bringing 43 silkies, frizzles, or sizzles. Some sexed and some to young to sex. Some already showing outstanding potential.

Also bring 5 peas.
One group I believe are young pullets (although it is still difficult to be sure) will be $35 with a roo of your choice if you want him. The unsexed will be $20 unless I can be sure its a young silkie roo and it will be $10. Frizzle and sizzles are also $35. Have 3 smooth feather silkie frizzle crosses that are roo and they will go with the frizzle pullets if you want one. Frizzle roos are $35 by themselves. You only need one frizzle roo to put with several hens of your choice.

Marshas Silkies

Stop by and lets talk Chicken!!

Alrighty, everyone! I am headed off to bed so I can get up bright and early. Truck is loaded with everything. I just have to pack my cooler with ice and drinks, put it in the truck and I am off.

I want to wish everyone a safe and easy trip and I will see you all in the morning!

Hi Meredith

I just wanted to confirm that you were still interested in my red, blue laced Wyandotte. I hope to be there shortly after 8:00. I will look for your sign and truck. See you soon! Cristen

Carolina Chickenstock 2013

There were plenty of folks ready to sell their birds and whatnots.

Jams and jellies and a few chicks to entertain the kids

This couple doted over their flock of silkies. They had high quality birds.

Look at the fluffiness.

Look at the constant attention. These birds were well cared for and well socialized. If I ever decide to breed Silkies I'm talking to these folks.

This buyer gives a bird a thorough inspection.

There was even lovely artwork for sale. I had to walk away from this table as I wanted to buy all those birdhouses.

The ducks had a good turn out

These folks are giving out some good information.

I liked this gentleman's poultry.

Here's an assortment from another fellow.

The Jersey Giants. Check out how tall the cockerel is.!

I got a kick out of the Dell computer box. Look how this lady protected her fowl from the sun.

Check out this waterer. How neat is that?

Ain't these cute? I'd like to see hardware cloth used instead of chicken wire, but I'm sure you could get it if you asked.

Check out the rooster in the center providing shade for his hen. The temperature was not that warm but there was a breeze.

If you needed a nest box this gentleman had them!

This lovely rooster was checking his reflection in the bumper.

This is what Chickenstocks are all about. Having a good time with your favorite rooster.

And we all know West Knoll!

Beautiful weather and beautiful birds. What a wonderful day to spend the day!
