Fall Bi-Annual Carolina Poultry Party ~ Aug 6th at Irmo Tractor Supply

Back in April we had it at the Tractor Supply in Irmo, not Killian Road. It was a nice location, with plenty of parking. I think someone had mentioned that the store would like to know of next time when planned a swap so they could pass along to their customers. Brandy, would you be willing to call them or go visit and give them a heads up and see what they say? Also Brandy, anyone that you think would come to either sell, trade, or buy would be great...that is, if it's okay with the majority...??

I would LOVE to have it at the one in Lexington, but their parking lot is quite small.

Having seen the SC thread get closed for cleanup, because some people have disease in their flocks..... I'll pass.

I'd really love to meet some SC chicken tenders, but I have a closed flock and a lot of folks don't seem to understand how easily diseases are spread. I've raised chickens for 20 years, so it's not my first rodeo.

THEY WILL 4 WEEKS TO 10 WEEKS OLD BUT IF YOU WANT GROWN HENS ABOUT 3 YRS OLD I CAN BRING SOME OF B/W AMERAUCANAS. MY CHICKENS ARE BLOOD TESTED EVERY YR WHEN I PUT MY CHICKENS IN THE COUNTY FAIR. LAST YR THEY TESTED 48 CHICKENS THAT I ENTERED.IF 1 FAILS THEIR TEST THEY WILL NOT LET ANY OF YOUR BIRDS ENTER. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD HAVE TAKEN ALL YOUR BIRDS AND DISPOSE OF THEM

I'm totally kidding. Yeah, I'll talk with them. I need to go tomorrow and buy new feeders for the meaties anyway (those suckers can eat!) I'll let ya'll know what they say. It is a good location with plenty of parking and then McDonalds and Chick Fil A right next door.

I do know that is a date for a local folk festival up in Little Mountain (about 15 min from the Irmo TSC), so if you drive a ways to come to the chicken swap, it may be worth your while to ride a few more minutes up the road to the festival...its pretty good.

Alright, I'll let ya'll know what I find out.

I am a NPIP tester for SC and the places and things I've seen are horrible. A responsible poultry owner has to be careful and inspect all outside birds before bringing them into your flocks. I keep new birds far away from my flocks for 30 to 60 days just to protect my birds. Anything looking sick is destroyed. My farm is also off limits to other poultry people. I always meet potential customers at a nearby location. With all that being said, if you have sick or unhealthy birds please don't come and expose our birds!! Lets keep it clean!!

Oh! and I don't have a problem asking those that show up with unhealthy birds to leave!!!!
 
Okay!! I need everyone's input on this one. I'm going to go ahead and reserve the BYC Banner for us to have at the swap. Since this is our second swap this year, I was thinking we could come up with a catchy name for it. (i.e. Bi-Annual..., Semi-Annual....) What do yall think??..HELP!
