Hello everyone! I have been MIA for weeks now....only excuse is that I have been on the go from sun up til sun down and no time to be online! Ugh. I'm bushed. Maybe I can take the lead for last place....my squares should go out Monday. I was excited last month when I was ahead of hooking schedule but didn't finish in time. Kassaundra, could you pm your address? Thank you. This weather is retched. I'm aching all over from the cold. Its snowing now and the past 2 days have been bitterly cold. I feel bad for my birds, first winter I have owned chickens. Coop isn't drafty and they seem to be fine. Taking water out several times a day since it freezes quickly. I'm gonna ask Santa for a heated waterer of some sort. Any who, I'll check back in later after chores!

Well I for one am glad your back in touch, cuz I'm hosting the Winter Swap and we need you there.

As for the water thing. I take Hot water to the coop twice a day usually. I carry it in gallon milk jugs which are just enough for the gallon waterers I use.

However if you get a heater that would be great. I'm planning on getting at least a couple just to make it easier in not having to fill so many waterers.

Take care and try to rest up.

We made one of those cookie tin waterers they are ultra easy, then last year we just put a light bulb in the hole of a cement block, it was more stable then the light cookie tin, anyway both worked great and very cheap to make.

This is almost exactly what I was thinking, with maybe some cool purples added?
I found these pictures online while searching for inspiration....

Winter sunsets are beautiful. I think the Yellow would be too much but could be replaced by off-white type colors.
Awesome pics are they yours?

Oh no they stole my edit button!

As I mentioned earlier, this was my first swap and I truly enjoyed it. However, I was one of the few that had a hard time locating the final round color. But I just went online quick and ordered it actually cheaper than it would have been in the store! And I will say though, I love the idea that all of the squares I will be receiving already have the final round on it. Therefore they are ready to connect together. The thought of adding the final round doesn't appeal to me. I am curious to hear what others opinions and thoughts are on this.

Thank you Rancher! I think I might have to sign up for the winter swap! Love the idea of the winter colors. By January I'll be ready to start another project.
I've been lugging gallon milk jugs too which I don't mind but as cold as its been the past few days the water seems to ice over fairly quickly. I'm going to look up Kassaundra's method. The lightbulb in the cement block sounds like a great idea!
Have a great weekend. I'll be letting you know about the swap soon! Thanks for hosting!

Thanks for the info, I'm def going to look into it. Its going to be a very long winter chiseling ice....yuck! Light bulb sounds way better!

I just signed up for the Winter swap. I always liked the idea of a uniform final round, but I may just put the squares together as is. It might just be a different look. Although adding a final round feels like a lot of work, if I like the uniform look better, I guess I'll just have to do it. I'll decide after I see the squares. Navy blue might be a nice final round.

And now I'm thinking about snowflake centers in white with different colored backgrounds. hmmmm....
