Thank you, Rancher,

This sounds good. I'm not clear on the special square part, but trust you on this. Because of my travelling, it might be easier to find white than a particular blue, but if you prefer blue, I'll just do what I can.

By special I meant some sort of design other than a plain granny square. Beginners may find it easier to just do the basic granny square. If everyone thought it okay, I was going to suggest the Coats and Clark Super Saver as the last round. It seems to be the easiest to find.

If you're traveling you could do a solid color square rather than do what I did and buy up a bunch of colors and then have to pack them all up to bring home.

Some I didn't even use. Of course you can't have to much yarn.

I don't want anyone to not participate because they feel they aren't advanced enough. We all had to start somewhere.

Any suggestions on a begin and end date?

Oh no they stole my edit button!

I will move this to a separate thread.

I received a pm from someone who gave these suggestions. My toes are fine.

However I suggested Coats and Clarks Super saver since it is a common yarn I have found at Joanns, Michaels, and AC Moores. I also suggested the final round be White or Blue since it will make things easy for us to put them together. Unless of course others feel they'd like to add a round to blocks received to increase the size of the square.

I am fine with NOT having a set final round if everyone agrees.

I suggested the Medium Priority sized box since some may wish to use this size and also because there are some who may do more than the allotted number of squares. I personally don't mind doing extra. My first swap required a medium sized priority box. We had 11 participants and many did double.

Six inch squares should go fast for me and others. Extras will assist those who wish to donate their blankets do charity. Perhaps the pediatric ward of your local Hospital.

I assumed everyone understood the concept of including return postage. Perhaps I shouldn't have.

I hope I am not stepping on toes or anything but Since I don't feel up to hosting the swap I was going to try to convince my sister to do it and typed this up for her. It's similar to the current swap rules but changed around for a winter swap. Thought I would go ahead and send my ideas to you.

A few people had a hard time finding the "final round color" for the Fall swap, maybe it would be easier for some people if there wasn't a required color for the last round? just a thought.

Thank you SO much for volunteering to host the Winter swap. I am excited to possibly be able to participate in another one!

I 100% agree with the earlier sentiment about getting to know some great folks nd having a wonderful time with the "hooking"

I can't beleive my squares made it to Kassaundra already, feels like I mailed them yesterday!

I am SO excited to see everyones squares and the amazing things we all do to them when we get them!!

Rancher, looks good.

Seabocat yours may have had the longest journy.

Obviously I didn't get pics posted yesterday. Weekends are hard for me since that is when I work so hoping to get the pics posted Sund.

Rancher, the swap info looks good. With a 6" square, if people want to do a uniform final round, they can just add it to their squares when they get them. If not, they can just put the squares together as is.

I'm one of those people who don't understand the return postage thing. My PO wouldn't let me do it when I mailed my squares for the Fall swap.

I would totally be a part of this swap if the due date were sometime in January. I have things I need to get done for Christmas gifts.

I hope you sign up for the Winter Swap. The dates are 12/15 - 1/31/13 So everyone has plenty of time. 12/15 is the deadline for sign up.

As for the PO I don't understand. I just told them the box would be coming back with the same thing in it and they gave me stamps, which I stuck in an envelope. Of course if you're using a flat rate priority box it shouldn't matter as it will cost the same amount anyhow.

I used flat rate boxes and put the return postage inside the box in an envelope. May not have been the cheapest way but it was easiest for me.

That's why I suggested a medium flat rate box. Without each square being bagged and tagged you can squeeze in as many as you can make. Unless you're a beginner a six in square shouldn't take that long. I'm doing one now while I'm typing this. I can type with my feet and crochet with my hands.
