Me too. Thanks. That's what I've decided to do only I'm not doing a bright binding. I'm just using the dark green like the border. I had to go get more fabric for the backing tonight. I bought 5 yards yesterday to do it and I was short about 10"

I've already put on the dark green border and it looks really nice. Cknldy, I really appreciate your input so please don't be discouraged that I didn't follow your advice. I only have until this coming weekend to finish this thing up and it was already 7 feet long and 4 ft 9" wide without the final border. I wanted it to be a simple quilt, not real fancy. So, I chose to just put one more round on there to finish it off.

I'll try to get new pictures tomorrow of the finished top.

I hate that when you are just inches short. I was about 3 inches short on another project and then you have to worry will they have it available when you go back.

No offense at all- with each pic I said 'ooh, I like that one best!' It is all in the eye of the quilter and it is a dandy. I should be getting fabrics for this swap by this weekend. The blocks posted are just wonderful everyone!

Just thought I would share with you ladies...

The green/white spring swap... I just realized yesterday that I could quickly put them together and make a quilt for my son who's birthday we're celebrating next Sunday. I had several blocks that I never sent in because for whatever reason, they didn't measure up so I took the center seam out to make a border.

What do you think?


Ok, you have to tip your head to the right to see it right side up. I don't know how to rotate pictures on here.

I need to go to the store and get some more thread, the backing material and the innards. Maybe a pillow form too as I have two of the other blocks left. Actually, I think I'll separate the last two blocks and make a custom pillow case.

QUESTION: Around the outside, I should probably add a 2-1/2" border just like what is between the blocks so it will look balanced. Correct? Then my binding, I'm thinking might be a brighter green? How's that sound?

We have a fair here, it's called the Bloomsburg Fair. you should check it out on line. That would be a great quilt to put in there. To bad you don't live closer.

We were yacking on here a week or so ago and someone mentioned the Attic Windows block and I said I would post a picture of my daughter's first quilt, done for 4H and was an attic windows lap quilt. Ok, do the tip.



She only "fussy cut" about a dozen or so of the birds and left the rest of them random. I don't know if you can see it and it was unintentional but it APPEARS, looking at the birch bark in the bird print that there is a tree growing up from the bottom, almost in the middle and then branching out. Its kind of hard to see it in this photo but in person, it looks like we planned it that way! She did an excellent job for her first quilt.

My Grandma, Dava Carrell in Kansas is a quilt instructor and she taught me how to piece!

Oh wow you could follow in her foot steps someday, how wonderful, do you live near her? Your blocks look really nice. I'm twice your age and am a beginner, think of how far you will be when your my age.
