Finally came back about a half hour ago, while I was out feeding the ducks.
Still no sign of the Brahma.

I know the feeling. Are you going to do a necropsy?Welp, Brahma is still not back.
Also lost my Silkie roo. Two days ago he became weak and lethargic. Yesterday morning he seemed fine, eating and drinking and moving about albeit a bit slower than usual. By afternoon he was in the back of the enclosure laying down. He didn't even try to go into the coop for the night.
This morning he was dead.
This same thing happened to one of my young chicks, a few months ago. Just out of the blue. That was more upsetting to me, as it was a pullet with blue egg genes.
I don't want to sound insensitive or anything, but I was trying to figure out what to do with that Silkie. He'd done his job and fathered a bunch of chicks that I sold (or processed in the case of the cockerels) but I didn't have any more use for him. And we all know how difficult it is to rehome roosters. This solved the dilemma.
No. Wouldn't know what to look for, and I don't have a place to do it where I'd be sure not to potentially contaminate the other birds.I know the feeling. Are you going to do a necropsy?
Fair enoughNo. Wouldn't know what to look for, and I don't have a place to do it where I'd be sure not to potentially contaminate the other birds.
