I would definitely think the one to the right is a pastel, that back one looks a bit dark though

And here are the two scovies I got. A self-blue, and a self-black (although she has a few white feathers on her neck).

His neck and head remind me of a swan!

Ugh. Three more to go. Out of eight. I can't wait to clean up after this, I stink!

But then I need to do the actual portioning out. Kinda silly for me to cook a whole duck for myself. Carcasses will go to the dogs.

Just skinning, which is hard on my hands but not as bad as plucking. I lose out on all that beautiful fat though.

Colt and Winney keep coming over to see what I'm doing. Colt is especially annoying, chewing on my pants and shoes.

Starting to look over what I have left in the duck pen, deciding who stays and who goes. I think I've identified five scovie drakes that will end up being sold/processed. There's a nice Self Chocolate I'm thinking of keeping, plus of course that gorgeous Self Blue I just got (named him Cygnus, since he looks like a swan!), plus one which I STILL can't figure out his colouring! I KNOW! ME not knowing the colour of one of my scovies! He looks mostly white, but has faint markings. He may be a Silver Barred. And then there's the ugly Lilac drake. I don't like him but he has the colour genes I need. Damn, that's five drakes I can think of that I want to keep... I need bigger/more pens!

I was thinking of maybe keeping my Self Black drake, but he's showing signs of having the Whitehead gene, which I'm trying to get rid of.

I have two Blue hens, one Self and one Magpie. Those are staying. Many, MANY Chocolate hens. Keeping the oldest one, even though she has the Whitehead, because she is such a great mother. Another Chocolate that has proven to be a good mom I may cull though, because she was weak and got sick in the Spring, and has a permanent limp now. There IS a gorgeous Self Chocolate female that hatched this year. She was very small though, failure to thrive, but she's caught up now.

Several Barred Lilac hens which work for what I'm aiming for, so they stay. And a nice Self Barred Black hen, plus the gorgeous Self Black I just got.

Wasn't I supposed to be downsizing??
