Famous Hatchery 'Pure Bred' Appearances

@BlackHackle
I just would like to thank you for this thread, I find in very interesting. I personally enjoyed it even before the arguments:barnie:lau

I do agree with you, that hatchery birds are in most cases, not bred to the SOP. And they are not as comparable to birds bred by actual breeders, that breed to the SOP. I personally breed Silkies and show them, and let me tell you hatchery silkies do not stand a chance in shows. The best looking silkies that come from a hatchery is probably Cackle. But they still have major defects and disqualifications.

It takes a lot of time to breed a bird that's as perfect as you can get it. So it's not that I have anything against hatcheries, they just don't have to time to breed birds to the SOP. Plus their goal is just to mass sell birds, so they don't really care how close to the actual breed the bird should look. After all, most hatcheries breed for production, not looks anyways.

Again, I just found this thread extremely interesting. So thank you for creating it!:thumbsup

Oooo maybe a Partridge Silkie @BlackHackle ??? Are Partridge silkies recognizes in sop?
I'm not @BlackHackle. The only Silkie colors I have seen at the shows are White, Black, Blue and Buff, both Bearded and Non-Bearded. I don't think the APA recognizes Partridge.

I have tried using the REVIEWS, there is no way to search it (that I found) and no way to sort it (that I have found). If anybody can turn my lightbulb on I'd appreciate it.:confused:
I don't know of any sources that compare birds. These are from the APA SOP book.

I did some research and found, the Silkie colors which are recognized by both the American Poultry Association and the American Bantam Association are White, Black, Blue, Buff, Gray, Partridge and Splash.
