My husband and I got into it for the untainted,more nutritous, fresh eggs, but quickly realized how rewarding, entertaining, relaxing, and therapeutic they are. Enter my injuries,and my inability to work in the garden like a maniac like I normally do. My girls have been God send.

I have to say that i originally got chickens for their pest/bug patrolling capabilities;
eggs are just a bonus and chicken tv is always great but, not nearly as great as incubator tv!

I agree with every reason mentioned! The surprising one for me personally was the therapy..... I knew it would be fun for the kids, and that we would benefit from the sustainability boost from the fresh eggs... but I never expected the calming feeling that comes from spending time with them. Now, if I feel anxiety rearing it's ugly head, I find myself going to be with the chickens instead of seeking time alone...I think this is much healthier, who knew, thanks Chicks!

#5 for me. I get home from a frustrating day at work, sit and watch my birds and all the troubles of the day just seems to evaporate!

YES to all, but I also have a very stressful job and suffer with panic disorder. I find sitting with the girls very calming and watching their antics lightens my mood. Their little noises are so calming. The eggs are amazing too!

I love the term "Chicken TV" - never heard it before!!! YES to this and the other answers. My mom and I will often get up on the weekend, get our coffee and sit on the back porch and watch the chickens for an hour or so... so relaxing. Who knew there was a great term for this??
