we used to not have grass around our pool, so this summer we put down hay and grass and things so some would grow. The thing is, the grass was mainly not growing on the side of the pool OPPOSITE the coop, so when the girls went out to play and free rang, they discovered the goodies quickly- you know grass seed, hay... the stuff they WEREN’T supposed to eat- and they made it a race to be the first one there. Since in Joy’s mind, going AROUND the pool took to long, she decided to go OVER it.... She was only able to fly about halfway, before she landed right in the pool AND CONTINUED TO SWIM TO THE OTHER SIDE LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED! She Did actually make it to the other side first, and happily ate her forbidden grass seed like everything was normal :lau

Make sure they have OFA and/or PennHip and I can go into more detail on the other tests that should be done or it’s on Google I’m sure). And make sure the line has longevity if you can like that the parents and grandparents etc. are living long and maybe have less cancer. It might be best to go with another breed.

I think that sounds pretty good!! But there are a lot of different breeds out there besides these ones and many different types of LGDs, herding breeds, etc. so I would just make sure that you do a lot of research beforehand and get the best breed for you and the right fit, which may not necessarily be the popular well known breeds.
That make sense- I have had my eye on border collies for quite a while, so they'd definitely be my first choice as a herding breed, but I haven't looked into LSG (crap have I been saying LGS this whole time I'm so dumb) or great pyrenees beyond looking at the cute pics on BYC.

That is true. I mostly said friend dog to justify me desperately wanting a lab :lol:

I request a video of this magical swimmer. Have someone else let them out and film while you call to them with treats from the other side of the pool?

No problem!! That’s totally understandable!! Border Collies are great dogs! But they can be intense 😂 but if they’re working they should be fine!!

And LOL I get it! I love Labs! 😂🥰 Goldens are great too. Haha although they can have a lot of cancer too 😭 I love all the sporting breeds and the herding breeds though 😂

And if you really want a BMD, there are good ones out there so you can definitely find them, it just takes a little more research. Labs can be prone to dysplasia too but it seems like with the BMD cancer is so common 😭

Yeah that’s understandable!! Some of them can be so goofy though LOL depends on the line and breeding and stuff though cause some are super serious 😂 or only goofy with family haha

We had a golden for years........he lived until 18 until his body just started shutting down. No cancer with him, just old age. He was super sweet. What's dysplasia? What counts as a sporting breed? Can you tell I know nothing about dogs?
