You can get a special work dog, and have it pre trained, like you bought one that is already trained.

I don't think that anyone is going to be selling a quality LSG that they spent lots of time training......if they were, it'd be EXPENSIVE. Getting a trained LSG is different then getting a dog that's housetrained, which is much easier.

That would be very expensive. And I doubt people sell pre trained dogs to protect chickens. Possibly for goats or sheep, but not poultry.

I don’t think you’re getting the point. It’s very expensive, and in the end it won’t be worth it unless you have hundreds of chickens.

Well I guess it just comes down to how much you want chickens, and how much work and money you are willing to put in.

Here’s what I WANT to do:
I would like to build a large wooden run attached to a horse stall on my barn (we have large stalls) and I would like to convert that stall into a coop, since we don’t really use the extra stalls. Then, the chickens would have lots of space, and everything would be nice and wonderful.
