I'm gonna have throw mine on the scale. She's lighter then all my other silkies. My silkie hen is a lot smaller than my bantam silkie cockerel. She probably weighs less than a pound.
The other day it was raining really hard, and my hen got soaked. With all her fluff down, she was just a bit bigger than my OEGB.I'm gonna have throw mine on the scale. She's lighter then all my other silkies.
Yep. I guess so.Really? Well they made their appearance anyway.
Yeah. The other day it was raining really hard, and my hen got soaked. With all her fluff down, she was just a bit bigger than my OEGB.
I approach from behind, and reach down with a hand on each wing and the legs between my middle and ring fingers. Then I sometimes transfer the chicken to rest against my chest, so I have a free hand.To hold a chicken:
Approach the chicken from its right side. Put your thumbs over the wing and 3 middle fingers around its chest. Move your ring fingers a little under the crop area, in front of the chickens leg. Then, place your little fingers behind the chickens leg. Now pick the chicken up and pull it to your chest. Let go with your right hand and wrap it around the chickens body with your hand supporting behind the chickens legs. Now you are holding a chicken.![]()
Same! My status as 'mildly helpful but mostly a nuisance' means I probably won't get an interview ever lolNo. That would be cool though! I like to talk about myself (and my chickens!)
